NEW YORK (AP) — Fox News on Monday ousted prime-time host Tucker Carlson, whose stew of grievances and political theories about Russia and the Jan. 6 insurrection had grown to define the network in recent years and make him an influential force in GOP politics.Fox said that the network and Carlson had “agreed to part ways,” but offered no explanation for the stunning move, saying that the last broadcast of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” aired last Friday. Carlson ended the show by saying, “We'll be back on Monday.”The break comes amid a cascade of bad legal news for Fox and Carlson. A week ago, Fox agreed to pay more than $787 million to settle a lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems over the network's airing of false claims following the 2020 presidential election — shortly before Carlson was expected to be called to testify.CBS' “60 Minutes” on Sunday aired a report about a man caught up in a Jan. 6 conspiracy theory who said Carlson was “obsessed” with him, and whose lawyer has put Fox ...High court denies energy companies' appeals in climate suits

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Monday rejected appeals from oil and gas companies that are fighting lawsuits from state and local governments over whether they can be held responsible for harms resulting from global warming. The justices handed the companies a setback in their legal fight with city, county and state governments that want the cases to be heard in state courts, where both sides agree the governments stand a better chance of winning large damage awards. The companies want the cases moved to federal courts. What to expect from the Tuesday-Wednesday snowstorm Monday's orders from the high court affected cases from California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, Rhode Island. But more than a dozen similar suits are pending in state courts around the country claiming that oil and gas produced by the companies led to greenhouse gas emissions, which contributed to global climate change and caused harm locally. In 2021, the justices ruled for the companies in an earlier phase...Famous bands and musicians from Colorado

SAN FRANCISCO — Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. currently sits atop the fWAR leaderboard, tied with one other player: Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo. If the season ended today, there would be a fervent debate about the NL MVP Award. Would it go to Acuna, Nimmo or first baseman Pete Alonso? Alonso might not be up there with Nimmo on the WAR leaderboard, but the slugger has hit the second-most home runs in the NL (10) and has driven in 23, the third-most in the league entering Monday“I would give them co-MVPs to Pete and Nim,” Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor told the Daily News. “They’re doing really great. Nimmo has maybe done a little bit more on both sides of the ball, but Pete has been great.”Great might be an understatement. At the plate, Nimmo is having a fantastic start to the season, slashing .350/.455/.500 with a .955 OPS entering Monday. Liberal lawmakers have embarked on a multi-state bus tour to push for a shake-up at the nation’s highest court.“I’ve worked in law all my life and the last thing I would want to do is mess with the United States Supreme Court,” U.S. Sen.
