The company said Wednesday that customers in College Station, Texas, can now get prescriptions delivered by a drone within an hour of placing their order. The drone, programed to fly from a delivery center with a secure pharmacy, will travel to the customer’s address, descend to a height of about four meters — or 13 feet — and drop a padded package.Amazon says customers will be able to choose from more than 500 medications, a list that includes common treatments for conditions like the flu or pneumonia, but not controlled substances. The company’s Prime Air division began testing drone deliveries of common household items last December in College Station and Lockeford, California. Why is B.C. banning drug use in public spaces?

Published Wed, 19 Feb 2025 20:55:10 GMT

In today’s Big Story podcast, earlier this year, B.C. decriminalized certain amounts of some hard drugs, in an attempt to combat the overdose crisis. Nine months later, the same government has introduced legislation to ban those same drugs from public use. On the surface it looks like two conflicting approaches to the same problem — but is that true?Dr. Lindsay Richardson is an associate professor at the University of British Columbia and the Canada Research Chair in Social Inclusion and Health Equity. She says that while the province links the legislation to public health objectives, the new law is more about enforcement.“The actual legislation really is about enforcement of public drug use, and police activities related to public drug use,” she says. What do we know about how decriminalization has gone so far? What will the new act mean for users in the province, and for non-users who share public space with them? How will the ban be enforced, and who will it impa...

Editorial: Hamas attack should be recognized as an act of terrorism

Published Wed, 19 Feb 2025 20:55:10 GMT

There should be no debate over the language we use to describe Hamas and its depraved Oct. 7 attack on Israel.Hamas is a terrorist organization, and the acts of its agents on Oct. 7, when they crossed the border into Israel with the express intent of killing and kidnapping civilians, were terrorism. That makes them terrorists. While some have suggested Hamas’ political role in Gaza means it is not a terrorist organization, it is clearly targeting civilians for political ends, which is the very definition of terrorism. The danger in using euphemisms such as “militants” to describe terrorists is that it normalizes heinous acts of terrorism and implies that the deliberate targeting of civilians is a military act and that Hamas at large has some other, less despicable objective. But let’s be clear: Hamas’ stated goal in its founding charter calls for the obliteration of the state of Israel. The United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom and Canada have all formally designated Ham...

Jared Polis, who released a new Colorado Electric Vehicle Plan in Marc...
