(CNN) — Stevie Nicks is finally commenting on the hit show that many believe is loosely based on her music career with Fleetwood Mac.The iconic singer, 75, posted a still image from Amazon’s “Daisy Jones & the Six” to her Instagram on Tuesday, and shared her opinion of the 10-episode series in the caption.“Just finished watching Daisy Jones + the 6 for the 2nd time. In the beginning, it wasn’t really my story, but Riley seamlessly, soon became my story,” Nicks wrote, in reference to series lead star Riley Keough.“It brought back memories that made me feel like a ghost watching my own story,” Nicks continued.“It was very emotional for me. I just wish Christine could have seen it. She would have loved it,” the “Dreams” singer added, referring to her late Fleetwood Mac bandmate Christine McVie, who died in November of last year.Nicks ended her message, “Hopefully it will continue…”“Daisy Jones & the Six,” which is nominated for nine Primetime Emmy Awards this year, premiered in...Jay-Z-themed library cards spark increase in Brooklyn Public Library memberships

(CNN) — If anyone can make a trip to the library feel like a party, it’s Jay-Z, apparently. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, the Brooklyn Public Library and Roc Nation have released 13 limited-edition library cards with artwork from Jay-Z albums. The initiative, which ends later this month, has already resulted in 14,000 new library accounts, a spokesperson for the Brooklyn Public Library told CNN.The library cards are tied to a Brooklyn Central Library exhibit that explores Jay-Z’s career through rare photos, original recordings, videos and other artifacts.“The community’s enthusiastic response to this exhibition is a testament to Jay-Z’s immense impact,” Linda E. Johnson, President and CEO of the Brooklyn Public Library, told CNN.The Jay-Z-themed library cards are available for free for New York State residents. New Yorkers can collect all 13 versions – but only one will be activated to a Brooklyn Public library account to check out resources, according to a library sp...Mr. Not-So-Brightside. You okay with a Russian coming up here?” Fans responded with a mixture of boos and applause. KYIV — The Ukrainian army has liberated a critical village in the Donetsk region, widening their breach into Russian defenses on the southern front. Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar confirmed the liberation of Urozhaine on Wednesday morning. Urozhaine is located a few kilometers southeast of Staromaiorske, which Ukrainian forces pushed Russia out of last month. The village’s liberation is a significant victory for the Ukrainian counteroffensive, which is slowly progressing through heavily mined Russian lines of defense, Ukrainian military analyst Roman Svitan told POLITICO. “Russians had an established stronghold in Urozhaine alongside Mokri Yaly River that used to stall our offensive operations in that area. Taking it back under our control, Ukrainian forces minimized the danger of Russian attack from flanks and got a key to a faster progress through Russian defense lines up to Staromlynivka village, where Russians have their main defensive li...UK inflation slows, but chancellor warns not at finish line yet

Inflation in the U.K. fell broadly in line with market expectations in July despite some underlying signs of stagnation, while a drop-off in energy and food prices contributed to a surprise fall in household bills. The data offers relief for consumers but mixed messages for the Bank of England (BoE), whose aggressive hiking cycle is finally starting to show signs of bringing Britain’s sky-high inflation down ― but it still faces considerable headwinds from wages and costly services. The Consumer Price Index (CPI), a key measure of inflation, rose by 6.8 percent in July from the year before, down from 7.9 in June, in line with market expectations, according to data released Wednesday by the Office of National Statistics. That headline figure will be welcome news for U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his government, which pledged in January to halve inflation by the end of 2023, though that target still remains far off. Chancellor Jeremy Hunt was quick to claim ...Bit Brighter

It won’t be as wet, nor as cloudy today as it was yesterday, but we’ll still deal with a fair amount of clouds and a few spotty showers. As the wind remains onshore today, it once again is a cooler than average day with highs in the 70s. With that said, I do expect breaks of sunshine today, especially this afternoon. Clouds and patchy fog refill in tonight with lows in the 60s. Those clouds and fog break for some sun tomorrow. Rain chances are limited tomorrow afternoon as just a few isolated showers get going late afternoon. A better chance for scattered showers and storms move in tomorrow night. Scattered storms will be with us Friday as temps run in the lower 80s. A few of those storms could be strong with localized downpours and gusty winds. Those storms are with a cold front that sweeps through Friday night, ushering in lower humidity and dry weather for the weekend. Saturday looks dry and breezy with temps in the mid to upper 70s. Sunday runs in the low to mid 80...City, school officials preparing for Back to School in Boston

It’s been a week now since the local Democrats publicly tried to guilt-trip their woke followers into opening up their $5 million suburban mansions for the Third World criminals flooding into the Commonwealth. So far, the response of the very compassionate “Hate Has No Home Here” crowd seems to be somewhat underwhelming.Has anyone seen a single news story anywhere about a machete-wielding neck-tattooed fentanyl dealer from El Salvador getting a Welcome Wagon greeting as he pulls up in his uninspected, uninsured, unregistered low rider in, say, Dover, or Brookline, or Cambridge?Me neither.I know all these fabulously wealthy Biden voters have plenty of room. For instance, Gov. Maura Healey has a fourth bedroom in Arlington. You can check it out on Zillow. As you know, she’s squatting in her fourth home over the last 20 months. The governor has set up a love nest with one of her former employees. Healey’s latest heart throb is 42 years old and used to work, uh, under 51-year-old Maura at ...Callahan: How Ezekiel Elliott will make life easy on Patriots’ best, most pivotal players
Published Mon, 23 Dec 2024 20:15:41 GMT
The Patriots are a better football team today because of an aging running back with minimal burst, 1,984 career carries and all the dust one collects after spending five months on the NFL’s clearance rack as an unclaimed and unwanted free agent. This is the Ezekiel Elliott paradox.Upon signing his 1-year, $6 million contract Tuesday, Elliott arrived in New England as a fading star and a new, vital piece of the Patriots offense. In Elliott, the Pats have at worst found a proven backup for Rhamondre Stevenson, and at best a running mate for one of their five best players. Without Elliott this summer, they had crossed their fingers that a late-round 2022 draft pick or practice-squad player or USFL alum C.J. Marable could replace Stevenson. With one stroke of the pen, Elliott ended that pipe dream for good.Of course, Elliott’s statistical ceiling is likely lower than it’s ever been. Forget any fantasy of seeing another 1,000-yard season or something close to the dozen to...Latest news
