Flooding puts Interstate 880 in Fremont under water FREMONT — Flooding continued to wreak havoc on the Bay Area freeways and highways Sunday, with commuters traveling on Interstate 880 the latest to feel the wrath.The California Highway Patrol shut down all lanes of I-880 in both directions late Sunday morning after flooding from a canal overflow turned the freeway into a small river.The CHP announced the full closure in both directions at 11:51 a.m.Northbound traffic had to divert the freeway at the Mowry Avenue exit and was expected to be closed until at least 10 p.m. Sunday night, according to the CHP. Flood advisory extended until 3:30 p.m. along the Peninsula SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A flood advisory issued for parts of the Bay Area has been extended until at least 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. No bailout for Silicon Valley Bank, Treasury Secretary says The advisory starts near South San Francisco and reaches down south of San Gregorio, so some areas of the Peninsula could be impacted. The NWS says minor flooding is expected, including flooding of highways, streets and underpasses. Early Saturday morning, residents in the community of Pajaro faced evacuations after the Pajaro Levee was breached around midnight. The breach in the levee is now more than 120 feet wide.
