Denver DA warns of scammer impersonation DENVER (KDVR) -- The Denver District Attorney's Office issued a warning Monday morning for residents who may have been called by someone who appeared to be using the office's phone numbers to scam people out of their money.According to the DA's office, impersonators have called Denver and Jefferson County residents claiming to be investigators from the respective DA offices. The callers will insist on meeting in person so the call recipient can provide money for an outstanding warrant. Winter Park Express returns in January 2024 DENVER (KDVR) -- The Winter Park Express will return for its seventh year in January 2024.The route drops people off at Winter Park Resort and runs from Denver's Union Station using Amtrak's California Zephyr route.The trains will run to and from Winter Park Resort on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Jan. 12 through March 31. There will also be two extra roundtrips on Thursday, March 14, and Thursday, March 21.According to the resort, that makes a total of 40 trips, which is seven more than during the 2023 season. (KDVR) — The Colorado State University's men's basketball team is off and rolling.The Rams (8-0) are now ranked 12th in the Coaches Poll and 13th in the AP Top 25 poll, their highest in school history. The jump in the rankings, from 20th in AP and 21st in Coaches Poll, follows impressive victories against the University of Colorado Boulder and the University of Washington. 1 dead, 2 injured in Aurora crash Sunday night DENVER (KDVR) — The Aurora Police Department said one person died and two others were taken to a hospital with injuries after a crash Sunday night.It happened just after 9 p.m. near East Pinewood Drive and South Wheatlands Parkway in southeast Aurora. The intersection was closed as of 10 p.m. 48 syringes, $6,300 worth of stolen bicycles found at Fort Collins homeless camp According to APD, a Mazada SUV was driving northbound on South Wheatlands Parkway at a high rate of speed when the driver struck the median and rolled several times before coming to rest on the sidewalk.Aurora police said two adult male passengers and an adult male driver were inside the car. An 18-year-old passenger was ejected and died on scene. The other two were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries.Pinewood Drive and Wheatlands Parkway reopened to traffic at around 2 a.m.This is the 63rd traffic-related death in Aurora this year.

Traffic stop in Marathon leads to arrest of woman with drugs and child in car An Islamorada woman was arrested after a traffic stop led to the discovery of multiple drugs and a child in an SUV. According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, 4-year-old Shanna Kay Ferguson had her one-year-old child in her vehicle when she was stopped near Mile Marker 50 at around 12:36 a.m., Monday. Ferguson was initially stopped after deputies observed her silver SUV swerving into other lanes of traffic and onto a sidewalk, narrowly avoiding a sign.Suspected illegal narcotics were in plain view in the vehicle. After a search, Ferguson was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of Adderall without a prescription.The Florida Department of Children and Families was also notified.
