The fans here are fantastic; the team’s going to feed off the energy of the fans, they’re going to rally behind Draymond (Green), which they should. It’s going to be a great atmosphere out there. It’s going to be tough as nails to try to get a win.”Green, suspended for Game 3 after stepping on the chest of Domantas Sabonis in Game 2, was planning to watch Game 3 from home, said Warriors coach Steve Kerr.“I think our crowd will help cover that,” Kerr said. “So it’ll be fine.”Brown spent six seasons as Kerr’s assistant before he to...Separate East Oakland shootings injure two men

SAN FRANCISCO — Any chance for a MadBum reunion?Designated for assignment Thursday, Bumgarner’s career has cratered since leaving the Giants in free agency following the 2019 season and signing a five-year, $85 million contract. With Arizona picking up the remaining $34 million on that deal, Bumgarner, if he’s waived as expected within seven days, he could come at a bargain price. At the time of his DFA, Bumgarner was 0-3 in four starts with a 10.26 earned run average and his average fastball has dropped to less than 90 miles per hour. His record since joining Arizona is 15-32 with a 5.23 ERA.With the Giants, Bumgarner was 119-92 in addition to being one of the most brilliant postseason performers in baseball history, capped by his performance against the Kansas City Royals in the 2014 World Series. The Giants under director of operations Farhan Zaidi let Bumgarner walk without a serious offer. SAN FRANCISCO — Gary Payton II will miss the Warriors’ crucial Game 3 of their first round playoff series against the Sacramento Kings with an illness. The illness kept Payton from practice on Wednesday, head coach Steve Kerr said.Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole were listed as questionable in the hours prior to tip off with shoulder soreness and an ankle sprain, respectively. Kerr noted that Poole was playing on a swollen ankle in Game 2, which partly contributed to his four-point performance in 16 minutes. But both were active for a crucial game with the Warriors down two games to none, Kerr said. The Warriors opted for offense by playing a hobbled Poole alongside Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Kevon Looney in the starting lineup to make up for Draymond Green’s absence.Payton’s absence exacerbates an already depleted Warriors team playing without Green due to a one-game suspension. Concerns surrounded Golden State’s defensive capabilitie...NBA playoffs live updates: Draymond-less Warriors try to fight back vs. Kings in Game 3

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Families of people killed in the Las Vegas Strip massacre in October 2017 will receive shares of almost all the $1.4 million estate of the man who unleashed the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history and killed himself before police reached him, according to a probate case that ended Thursday in Nevada. In the next several weeks, a total of almost $1.3 million will be distributed to the families of 61 victims of the shooting, said Alice Denton, the Las Vegas attorney who handled the case with her partner, Jarien Cho, at no cost to the estate of the gunman, Stephen Paddock.“We have done what we set out to do,” Denton said of the more than five-year process to appraise, sell and distribute proceeds from Paddock’s assets, including two homes and an investment property in Nevada, a vehicle and 49 guns.“We worked to ensure that the victims’ families received the most that they could,” Denton told The Associated Press. “The guns were destroyed, and the ...Md. couple recounts reimbursement struggle with Southwest Airlines after December debacle

Back in December, Mark Hessie and his wife Stephanie showed up at BWI Marshall Airport in Maryland ready to board a Southwest Airlines flight to Cancun, Mexico, for a long-anticipated Christmas vacation. That flight would never happen. The Hessies would instead be among the thousands of travelers caught in a wave of cancellations by the airline.“We were stranded there,” Stephanie Hessie said. The couple and their son made alternate plans which involved booking a flight for $3,000 on American Airlines out of Philadelphia.“We had to Uber from BWI to Philadelphia in order to make that flight with no luggage,” she said. “We basically had the clothes on our back to get us to Cancun.”They arrived in Cancun without their luggage but made the most of their trip. In watching news coverage of the situation involving Southwest, they felt some comfort in seeing reports that the airline planned to compensate passengers.“We were relieved to hear that (the)...Mexico finally sells unwanted presidential jet to Tajikistan

MEXICO CITY (AP) — After almost 4 1/2 years of trying, Mexico’s president said Thursday he has finally sold the unwanted presidential jet — to the former Soviet republic of Tajikistan. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said the government of Tajikistan paid the equivalent of about $92 million for the Boeing 787 jet. López Obrador refused to use the jet after taking office on Dec. 1, 2018, saying it was too luxurious. The austerity-loving president usually takes commercial flights. López Obrador had tried to lure corporations and business executives to buy the jet, but found no takers. He even symbolically “raffled off” the plane, which would be expensive to convert back into a normal airliner. The plane was purchased for $200 million and was used by the previous president, Enrique Peña Nieto. It has been difficult to sell because it is configured to carry only 80 people and has a full presidential suite with a private bath. Experts said it would be costly to reconfigure into a ty...Latest news
